University IVs 2022

On the 31st of October 2022, 3 Pembroke 4+ crews took on CUCBC’s University Four’s competition.

W1a were looking very strong and speedy in prep for Uni Fours, where they went straight to the quarter finals in a race against Gonville and Caius College. They had a great start and put in a strong and consistent effort from start till finish. Despite their efforts, they just lost out on Caius by 4 seconds.

Despite arriving to marshalling over an hour early, W1b beat Kings W1A college in the qualifying rounds to advance to the quarter-finals, their audible teeth-chattering driving them to the finish line. This was particularly impressive considering that they were the only 2nd 4+ crew in the top division, racing against the 1st 4+ crews of other colleges. Unfortunately, in their second race, they were beaten by Churchill by 12 seconds, however, their improved technique and racing from the day prior left the crew pleased with their performance.  

M1 pressed hard against a massive headwind, putting distance into Homerton M1 right off the start, but got just inched away from on the reach, narrowly missing out by 2s after a gutsy row.
